Hi,
this is the README for Multiplatform Clipboard program by Robert Dobozy
(robo@idata.sk) and Stefan Ondrejicka (ondrej@idataa.sk).

FEATURES
--------
MpCb is network application using which you can access the clipboard content
at another computer. You can make server list from which you can choose server
and read its clipboard.
At server you can restrict who can access your clipboard. MpCb logs who,
when and what reads from your clipboard.
There are three versions: Unix/GTK, Linux console and Win32. There have almost
the same features. Win32 version iconize itself as tray icon. Unix/GTK version
supports multiple buffer types: primary, secondary, clipboard and cut buffers
0 to 7.

REQUIREMENTS
------------
UNIX/GTK: >gtk-1.2.0 and optionaly GNOME libraries
Linux console: linux kernel with applied mpcb_kern.diff patch
Win32: Windows95/98/NT, VB6.0 runtime libraries (included)

INSTALLATION
------------
1. Common:
Please read platform dependend README-Unix.txt or README-Win32.txt file.
2.
 UNIX:
  ./configure [--disable-gtk] [--disable-linux-console] [--disable-nls]
  make
  make install
 Win32:
  Run appropiate .exe file
3. Common:
After you evaluate it, please go and fillin a feedback form. It is completely
anonymous and it will tell us, what do you think about it and what do you want
 to be fixed or improved.

CONFIGURATION AND USAGE
-----------------------
Win32 version run as tray icon. With right mouse button you can open
configuration window. With left button you'll open server list from which you
can obtain clipboard content.
UNIX/GTK version have button for configuration in main window and server list
in combo box on the left side of window.
Linux console version have to be configured from command line or using
~/.mpcbrc file.
In configuration window, client tab is for configuring client side
of this program. This means, that here you can define servers, names,
address, ports and buffers (clipboard) number. Buffer number 0 (MAIN_BUFF)
is default and it's that buffer you usually use when you mark something with
your mouse (UNIX) or put something into clipboard (Win32 - using CTRL-C).
UNIX/GTK supports more that one buffer. Windows supports (as I know) only one
buffer.
In server tab you can enable/disable server functionality,
enable/disable logging and create list of clients, which are allowed to read
your clipboard content. For Win32 version please see note at KNOWN BUG section.

HOW IT WORKS
------------
Program listens at port 11111 (or other configured). When incoming connection
arrives, it checks if remote machine is allowed to read clipboard content. If
so, sends it and logs information about that.
Client has list of servers. When requested by user, it connects to server and
using really simple protocol requests clipboard content from server.

KNOW BUGS
---------
UNIX:
 - UNIX/GTK server is singlethreaded, so it doesn't support connecting to
   itself, otherwise it deadlocks
 - Linux console version doesn't work, when kernel patch was not applied
Win32:
 - Property winsock.address doesn't return remote host name. So server can
make authority check only at IP address level. Don't use hostname in
   allowed server list

NEW VERSIONS
------------
can be find at ftp://ftp.idata.sk/pub/common/ and/or
http://www.idata.sk/~robo/mpcb/

TODO
----
 - improve english of this text :-)
 - make support for moving other object such as rich text or pictures (bitmaps)
 - make some better kind of authorization than just ip address of server
UNIX:
 - ?
Win32:
 - find and make workaround to hostname bug
 - OLE drag&drop support
