This directory contains two examples of using C extensions to
pass NumPy arrays between Python and Fortran. The simple
example, in test-F90Matrix.py, uses the Fortran instrinsic, MatMul,
to multiple two matrices. The other example, in test-FArray.py,
calls the Fortran procedure get_arrays, passing a Python dictionary.
The procedure get_arrays, makes repeated calls to put_array
(see the source code in ..src/FArray_C.c) to create Numeric
arrays using Fortran memory. On return, from get_arrays,
the test-Farray.py script retrieves the Numeric/Fortran
arrays from the dictionary and prints them.

To run the tests, make sure that the first four lines in
the Makefile are suitable for your distribution, and
just type "make" at the command line. The test requires
that you have installed Numeric. See http://numpy.sourceforge.net
for information about the Numeric module. I'm currently
trying to learn how to use Distutils to improve the Makefile.
Any suggestions would be appreciated <crasmussen@lanl.gov>.
