Version 0.0.4, 1 December 1999
------------------------------

Added protocol formatting for telnet.
Added simple text-based protocol formatting for FTP, SMTP, NNTP, POP,
IMAP, Gopher, and finger. The packet contents are displayed as text
rather than hex to make them easier to understand.
Move IP address to hostname resolution (i.e. reverse DNS) into a separate
child process so that long DNS response times will not block the
operation of the packet capture system.
Scan captured DNS response packets for information that can be used to
pre-prime the IP address to hostname resolver's cache when viewing
saved capture data in the absence of a knowledgeable DNS server.
Put the forward version of an IP address after the reverse ".in-addr.arpa."
form in the long-form DNS output, so that it is easier for the user
to see what the address really is.
Display errors in popup dialog boxes instead of in the status line.
The Ethernet vendor name is now displayed next to the link addresses in the
long-form packet display when the packet was captured via Ethernet.
A list of Ethernet packet types has been added to better decode the type
  code in the Ethernet header.
The Ethernet addresses 66:66:66:66:66:66 and FF:00:00:00:00:00, that are
used by the AntiSniff "packet sniffer detector" are recognized as
  "AntiSniff Probe" packets.
Added the "Host lookup" menu option to the "Tools" menu.
If a packet's timestamp indicates a day other than "today", then display
the date in the "Time Stamp" column.
Bug fix: use the correct snapshot length when saving to a file.
Added a "Resolve IP addresses on foreign subnets" option to the
Preferences dialog to emulate the behavior of tcpdump's "-f" option.
Bug fix: the bytes in an Ethernet address were supposed to be separated
  by colons.
Added some basic support for IPv6 packets.
Bug fix: compressed names in DNS packets weren't being skipped correctly.

Version 0.0.3, 23 November 1999
-------------------------------

Many user interaction fix-ups to make the application "flow" better.
Moved the "Filter" option from the "Capture" menu to the new "Settings" menu
and renamed it "Filtering conditions" to be consistent with the dialog
  box title.
Added a "Preferences" option to the "Settings" menu to allow setting options
such as name resolution, packet display formats, capture length, etc.
Add an option to automatically scroll the short form display window to
the bottom of the list when new packets arrive so that the newest
packets are always visible. The option is on by default.
Save preferences and filter settings between sessions.
Add a "Pkt #" column to the short form display, which contains the
packet number in the capture sequence.
Add a "Tools" menu that allows access to functionality similar to "ping",
  "netstat", "arp", "ifconfig", and "rpcinfo".
Modified the icons for "Start Capture" and "Stop Capture" to look better.
Recognize byte-reversed sequence numbers in ICMP echo and echo reply packets.

Version 0.0.2, 18 November 1999
-------------------------------

Added a "Clear" button to clear the packet trace while still capturing.
Implemented packet filtering on network captures.
Modified the "libpcap" library's "scanner.l" file to allow more than one
filter to be compiled during a program run, and to fix a bug in "gencode.c"
related to the compilation of filters for Linux's loopback device.
Formatting rules for DNS.
Color-code packets in the short-form display to make it easier for the
user to spot packets of different types.

Version 0.0.1, 16 November 1999
-------------------------------

Original version. Basic packet capture and display capabilities only.
