Phobia 2 v1.0 for Linux (a.k.a. LinuxPhobia)
(c) 1999,2001 RedLynx Laboratories
http://www.lynxlabs.com, contact@lynxlabs.com

REQUIREMENTS
You need a i386 Linux box to play. Also SDL and
SDL_mixer must be installed. They can be found
from http://www.libsdl.org (SDL_mixer is in
'libraries') and they're lisenced under GNU LGPL
(http://www.gnu.org)

The game is built and tested on an athlon 700.
If you have problems running, please contact
RedLynx Linux expert [;)] Kurre Stahlberg
(kurre@lynxlabs.com) and report the problem
and at least distribution, processor and SDL
versions.

INSTALLATION
Unpack the tar.bz2 archive to a directory of
your choise by typing

#cd <dir>
#tar xIvf linuxphobia-1.0-i386.tar.bz2

A directory named linuxphobia-1.0 is created.

If you're running KDE execute the setup-link.sh
script, and you'll get linuxphobia link into
K-menu->Games->RedLynx!

If not, copy the LinuxPhobia.desktop file created
into linuxphobia-1.0 directory to wherever you
like, or execute from terminal emulator

PLAYING
Enter the linuxphobia-1.0 directory and run
the game by typing

#cd linuxphobia-1.0
#./linuxphobia

The game detects whether or not you should
use fullscreen mode and uses the detected
mode. However you can force either windowed
or fullscreen mode by typing

#./linuxphobia --window
#./linuxphobia --fullscreen

respectively.

MUSIC
You can use music of your own in the game by
copying either mp3 or Ogg Vorbis coded music
files into linuxphobia-1.0/music directory.
They are used in a random jukebox.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Q:	I can't hear no music! Sound is OK
	otherwise. Why?
A:	You probably don't have Ogg Vorbis
	support compiled into the SDL_mixer
	library. Please see http://www.vorbis.org
for Ogg Vorbis libraries and compile
	the SDL libraries again.

Q:	My game doesn't use FULL SCREEN! I want my
full screen! How do I do it?
A:	RTFM. Try --fullscreen switch. It probably
produces full screen with black borders..

Q:	I used --fullscreen switch to get my game
to use full screen display, but now it has
this black border around the actual game
screen! How do I get rid of that black
	border?
A:	You have to set your X server to use the
640x480 mode. Best solution would be to also
use 16 bit colors as default. Here's a clip
	of my XF86Config-4 file:

	-------------8<------------------------------
	Section "Screen"
	 Identifier "Screen0"
	 Device "NVIDIA GeForce 256 (generic)"
	 Monitor "Monitor0"
	 DefaultDepth 16

	 Subsection "Display"
	  Depth 16
	  Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
	 EndSubsection

	EndSection
	--------->8-----------------------------------

The important part is that you have the 640x480
mode listed in your default depth modes. If you
have it there, the game should use full screen
	automatically.

ENJOY!
