General Information

The Tk-Lpc application provides a graphical front end
for the lpc program from the Public Line Printer
Spooler System. It is used to monitor and control the
operation of PLP by manipulating the status of spool
lock files and killing active servers. The original
functionality of lpc is enlarged by a monitoring
function, which shows the actual status of spool
queues periodly.

Printer Mode

Tk-Lpc operates in two different modes. After starting
the program, it is in the printer mode. The upper
listbox shows the actual status of the spool queues,
and the lower box gives additional information for the
different printers. Here you can perform all lpc
actions for server and spool queue administration.
First select one or more printers in the listbox, then
choose the desired action from the QueueOperations
menu.
Refer to the QueueOperations section for a detailed
overwiew of the possible actions. With a double-click
of the left mouse button on a printer line in the
upper listbox, Tk-Lpc switches in the job mode.

Job Mode

After double-clicking on a printer line in the listbox,
Tk-Lpc switches in the job mode. It allows to perform
all actions from the lpc program, that operate on
specific print jobs.
Local Printer:
The upper listbox shows the jobs inside a spool queue,
the lower textbox gives additional information.
Remote Printer:
The upper listbox shows the jobs inside the local
queue, the lower one displays the jobs of inside the
queue on the remote printer.
Similar to the printer mode, you can select one or
more lines in the upper listbox. After that, choosing
a function from the JobOperations menu will invoke the
desired action. The corresponding menu section gives
a complete overview of the possible commands. A
double-click on the right mouse button switches back
to the printer mode. You can although get back to the
printer mode by clicking on the ViewAll button.
