Info
----
This release improves the graphic engine in order to permit runtime switch
between SDL and GL mode.
Some new features are introduced too, for example Vertical Flip that permits
to view the scene from an opposite point of view (180° rotation ) and the
introduction of XML for game's data.
Furthermore now GL is optional and if GL headers won't be find on your system
the game will be build without GL support.

The game will start in a 800x600 window using SDL mode, if you want to change
these settings at run time use the keys illustrated in the instructions below.

Requirements
------------
The game requires the following libs in order to compile: SDL, SDL_image, SDL_ttf.
If you want to compile the GL version you need OpenGL libraries too.
In several linux distros based on packages (e.g. Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian, etc...)
you need both lib and dev packages for each required library.

You can compile Mars with scons (it requires Python).

Visit the website and the wiki for more info about SDL-libs and scons.

Compiling
---------
To build Mars with GL support:
scons

if you don't want to compile GL support:
scons with_opengl=no

To clean:
scons -c

for help about other options:
scons -h

If you are on Windows you can compile using DevC++ or MinGW, read the wiki
more info.

Installation
------------
In order to install the game use the target alias 'install' of scons.

If you just type:
scons install
by default the executable will be copied under /usr/local/bin and data
in /usr/local/share/mars.

You can also specify two optional arguments to better tailor the installation
to your needs:
scons [root=path prefix=path]
The 'root' argument allows a fakeroot installation used by many distributions,
it means that you can specify a directory where files will be copied, but the
game will not look in that specific directory for its data, this help automated
scripts create packages looking for an installation tree under a specific fake
root directory.
The 'prefix' argument is the prefix tree under which you want the directory
bin/ and share/mars being created, for most distribution it is /usr, but if you
are installing manually from the source it would be usually set to /usr/local.
