== Stats ==

Movement

The character's movement speed. This stat only matters when the character is running; it determines how fast he can run i.e. how many tiles he can move in a single phase. This stat is useful for close combat focused fighters who need to get close to the enemy quickly.

Close Combat

The character's close combat skill. This stat covers melee weapons, unarmed fighting, and using pistols in close combat.

Ranged Combat

The character's ranged combat skill. This stat covers all ranged combat weapons.

Strength

The character's physical strength. Strong characters can carry more, and cause more damage when fighting with melee weapons or unarmed.

Toughness

The character's ability to withstand physical damage. This includes the character's ability to resist diseases and poisons.

Initiative

This stat covers reaction time, observational abilites and agility. It determines how quickly a character can act i.e. how many actions the character gets per round. This stat is very important for all types of characters.

Leadership

The character's emotional discipline. It determines how much pain and suffering the character can withstand. It also determines a character's resistance against psychological effects like fear.

Sagacity

The character's intelligence, wisdom, education, and powers of problem solving. Right now this stat is only important for reading tomes.

Force

The character's potential to evoke and control psychic power. All human characters have a certain psychic potential, but it is usually left untapped. Force is the most important stat for psykers, and it is also important for fighters who want to use force weapons.

= Stat Tests =

The outcome of many game events is determined by character stat tests. A D100 is rolled and compared to the current value of the tested stat. If the result of the dice roll is lower than or equal to the stat value the test counts as passed, otherwise it counts as failed.

EXCEPTION: A dice roll between 1 and 5 automatically succeeds.
EXCEPTION: A dice roll between 96 and 100 automatically fails.

= Morale =

A character's morale can be broken. If that happens he is no longer able to fight / tries to flee. There are many ways to break the morale of a character, but all of them are based on a leadership test. If the character fails the test he becomes broken. The most common threat to a character's morale are injuries (i.e. pain). Everytime a character is wounded he must pass a leadership test if his injurity value is higher than X percent of his toughness value, where X is his current leadership value.

= Power Rating =

The power rating of a character is an approximation of his power. The power rating is only relevant for EP reward calculations and for recruiting.
