                        Auto-Sig v2.3
                        -------------

This application is used to generate .signature and .plan files from a list of
quotes. The files are generated by combining a constant header file with one
quote which is randomly selected from the quote file. This package includes the
source which can be used to build the autosig application and a number of
sample shell script which demonstrate how everything works.

Manifest
--------
autosig.c - source for autosig
makefile - makefile to build the source

autosigd - script which starts autosig as a daemon

chplan - script to generate a plan file
chsig - script to generate a signature file
selm - script which generates a signature file before starting the elm mailer
fortune - script which uses autosig to simulate the fortune(6) program

dotplannc - sample header for the .plan file
dotsignc - sample header to the .signature file
quotes - list of quotes

Build
-----
Simply type make. Known to work on Linux, Solaris (edit makefile to define
NEED_BASENAME) and HPUX.

Install
-------
Copy the autosig binary and scripts to any location which is on the PATH.

Notes
-----
When autosig operates in daemon mode it will write the header and random quote
to a named pipe. If the named pipe correspond to your .plan file or .signature
file, then everytime the pipe is read, different data will be available.
