awared is the usual way to work with Aware. The Aware project (http://www.elegant-software.com/software/aware) is an effort to create a software framework to measure, monitor, and control computer system resources. Aware is intended to enable system administrators tune system variables, set monitoring/security alarms and build adaptive distributed systems. Aware modules may be linked into applications making them ’aware’ and able to participate in the larger managed system. awared reads a "wire" file specified with the -wire option which describes handlers, how they are configured and connnected. By default, all error/system messages are logged to stdout. You may override this with a supplied filename and optionally enable log file rotation. Using the -vars option allows you to specify key=val pairs in a comma delimited list which are set before interpreting the wire file. Sending the running process a SIGHUP will cause the process to restart, reading the "wire" file. Using the -slave option will have the awared process check with the specified master for updates to the local wire file. -master option will start an http server of the specified port. Slaves use this server to sychronize their wire files. -log option allows you to specify a file to log messages, defaults to stdout. -rotate options allows you to specify one of hour, day, month as the interval to rotate the log file specified -log option. -timeout option will end the program after the specified number of seconds. -autorestart option will cause program to restart if it crashes -sched option set the scheduler (see man sched_setscheduler) -dbgstats option will log internal stats every specified number of seconds (useful for debugging and performance tuning) -help option will print usage info |
