Requirements:
=============

You _must_ have a HP2100 series printer configured for your system.

Red Hat systems use printtool to configure a local or network printer.

If you can use lpr, then you're all set.

For help configuing your printer refer to the Printing HOW-TO at:
<http://metalab.unc.edu/LDP/>

Console Version:
================

The console (command line) version is included with this distribution
in the console/ subdirectory. The console and GTK+ versions do NOT
depend on one another. Both have similar functionality, but it's easier
to use the console version in scripts. See console/README.console for
install instructions...

Install GTK+ Version:
====================

Unzip the tar ball:

$ tar zxvf *.tar.gz

Compile, Install:

$ ./configure
$ make
(switch to root user to install)
# make install
# make clean

You may also want to add the following lines to your .bash_profile:
(assuming you have configured a printer named "lp")

export PRINTER=lp

Then, at the shell prompt:

$ source .bash_profile
$ echo $PRINTER
      (to check)

Uninstall:
==========
Change to the directory where you compiled the source:

# make uninstall

Use:
====
For the console version, check the man page:

$ man 2100config

Online help for the GTK interface is not yet available.

Use a specific printer and turn on verbose mode with:

$ g2100config -v -Pfoo

where foo is the name of a printer described in /etc/printcap
