        This should be pretty simple.

# type after me:
./configure

# if you want to change the defaults
$EDITOR src/Makefile
$EDITOR config.h
# do the above

make
make install
# watch for errors - if any, mail alambert@manisec.com with details.

This will compile, and dump the snortconf binary in /usr/bin/snortconf
by default (or elsewhere if you did a "./configure --prefix=/elsewhere").
It will dump the config files in /etc/snortconf.

Start by typing "snortconf". The SnortConf configuration menu will
be the first screen you will see if sc.conf does not exist (which it does not
by default). At the minimum you need to tell snortconf the following:

	1. The full path and filename for your snort.conf file
		(ie: /etc/snort/snort.conf)

	2. The full path and wildcard mask for your snort *.rules files
		(ie: /etc/snort/*.rules)

You may set anything else you need to/want to, but the defaults
should be fairly sane.

For further information, please check out the documentation (in the
./doc subdirectory).
