Installation
------------

Just a quick, extremely basic installation guide: (Thats all I have time for at the moment)

1. Prequisites
--------------

NOTE: please UNINSTALL all previous Domo versions before updating!
I will try to keep the changes to the database as minimal as possible
as to prevent you from having to re-enter everything.

1) Install the latest MySQL version and create a root account:
(Strictly speaking this is not necessary since a root account exists by default.
It is, however, not password protected and highly insecure)

Linux:
        shell> mysql -u root mysql
        mysql> SET PASSWORD FOR root@localhost=PASSWORD('new_password');

Another way to set the password is by using the mysqladmin command:

        shell> mysqladmin -u root password new_password

Windows: Running setup.exe will automatically create a root account

(see 4.3.4 Initial privileges from the MySQL docs for more info)

Note: that other databases should be supported in the future. The infrastructure is there
but I still need to find somebody to implement the necessary interface :p

2) Install the latest Qt toolkit and make sure the $QTDIR environment
variable is set (Linux: see .profile, Win: System->properties->advanced)

3) Install the Qt mysql plugin QMYSQL3 in $QTDIR/plugins
NOTE:If you installed Qt from source, there is NO need to download/install
the mysql plugin separately. Just compile the plugin from the Qt source
   installation directory (in $QTDIR/plugins/src/sqldrivers/)

4) Install the necessary dependencies. See the downloads page on http://domo.sf.net for more information.

2. Source installation
-----------------------

1) tar xzf [tar.gz file] / unzip [zip file]

2) Read the RELEASE / README files

3) Run 'lrelease domo.pro' (create language qm files) (lrelease resides in $QTDIR/bin)

4) run 'qmake domo.pro' (generates a Makefile) (qmake resides in $QTDIR/bin)

5) Run 'make' (linux) or 'nmake' (windows)

6) Run 'make install'

PLEASE NOTE: When running into errors such as "cannot find include dir /usr/local/musicbrainz/"
please modify domo.pro to fit your local directory settings and re-run qmake.

Information about qmake + a quick guide can be found at http://doc.trolltech.com/

3. RPM Binary installation
--------------------------

1) Download the latest version from http://domo.sf.net

2) Login / su as root

3) run: 'rpm -Uvh [rpm file]'

Note: The 'domo' executable is placed in /usr/local/bin/domo

4) run 'domo' and follow the on screen instructions
