To compile and install LMP:

	1. If there is a file 'configure':
		run './configure'
	   else
	   	run './autogen.sh'
You may need to install some other packages
		(autoconf, automake, libtool).

	2. Run 'make; su -c "make install"'
If you cannot install lmp as root, you may do:

	       './configure --prefix=/home/me/localthings; make; make install'
where "/home/me/localthings" is a path you have write
	       permissions in it.

The binary will go to /home/me/localthings/bin, so include it into
	   your PATH.
Further add /home/.../lib to LD_LIBRARY_PATH and /home/.../man to
	   MANPATH.

	NON-GNU-PLATFORMS (anything but Linux ;)

If you try to install LMP on a non-GNU platform, "make" and "ar" may
not be aliases to GNU make and GNU ar. If compiling failes with some
weird error message and there is a binary called "gmake" and "gar"
	   on your system, try

		'MAKE=gmake AR=gar ./configure ...'

Of Course, you'll then have to do 'gmake; gmake install'. I tried
this on SunOS and FreeBSD, worked for both with the GNU stuff
	   installed.

That's it (easy isn't) !
