DFBKana 0.3 README
------------------

DFBKana is a small DirectFB program to help you lerning japanese kana
(hiragana and katakana).

I wrote it on the day before my second japanese lesson, and this program
actually helped me, so I decided to release it.

How does this program work?
---------------------------

You will be presented a kana character and you have to guess the
pronunciation by selecting the apropriate romanji field in the romanji grid
window. This can be done by a mouse click or by using the keyboard or a
remote control.

If your guess was right, the text in the romanji field will become more green,
if your guess was wrong it will become more red.

If you guessed a kana character right a few times without a mistake, the
appropriate romanji field will be VERY green, if you guess it wrong one time
after this, it will still be mostly green, but the romanji text inside will
be red. If you guess it wrong a few times it will be come more red from time
to time.

The romanji grid window will become very colorful if you are a beginner, you
will be able to see which kana you know good and with which you are unsure.

command line options
--------------------

--japanese-font=<filename>

If you have not specified a default font when running ./configure you have
to specify a japanese TrueType font at runtime. You can also use this option
to use another font (e.g. if you want to switch gothic/mincho style fonts)
(hint: kochi-mincho.ttf and kochi-gothic are a good choice).

I hope you like this program, feel free to send your comments to
