- slim down the Makefiles. Michael had the idea to put common rules
  in the same level. The problem I see with this is that the right
  side ($<) may not be well defined any longer.
  Also the use of variables to keep common texts within could reduce
  the size. Already started, but still needs to be evaluated.

- setting flags conditionally in automake conditionals
if compile_FOO
KDE_CXXFLAGS = -DQT_NO_CAST_ASCII
endif
top_mydir_KDE_CXXFLAGS will be defined but not used in Makefile.rules.in
[Workaround: define a new flag, set its value from configure.in.in,
 and unconditionally set KDE_CXXFLAGS to that flag]

- kdebindings: various problems, including
dcopjava/tests/Makefile.am: unknown source extension .java for test.class
kdeobjc/kangaroo/Makefile.am: unknown source extension .m for kangaroo

- rosegarden/sound/Makefile.am: nested automake conditionals (NO_SOUND vs. HAVE_ALSA)
  (:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/rosegarden module rosegarden)
- rethink how to install docs incrementally

- missing dependency when linking to lib in the same CVS module
kdegames/kolf/Makefile.am says ...LIBADD = $(LIB_KDEGAMES)
LIB_KDEGAMES is $(top_builddir)/libkdegames/libkdegames.la (srcdir!=builddir btw)
but after "make compile", make -j2 will try to link libkolf.la and libkdegames.la at the same time

top_kolf_libkolf_la_LIBADD = $(LIB_KDEGAMES) $(LIB_KDEPRINT) $(LIB_KIO) -lartskde
$(top_kolf_builddir)/libkolf.la: $(top_kolf_libkolf_la_OBJECTS) $(top_kolf_libkolf_la_CLOSURE)
 it's missing from the dependency list ^^^^^

- support for AM_CONDITIONAL'ed objects in "compile" target
- kdesdk: install for MANS unimplemented

- bug in install-data-local dependencies tracking:
   cd ./pics/crystalsvg/kde/ && /usr/bin/make install-data-local
   make[1]: Entering directory `/space/builds/kdelibs/pics/crystalsvg/kde'
   make[1]: *** No rule to make target `../../kimage_concat', needed by `cr32-action-kde.png'. Stop.

- In arts/artsc/Makefile.am libartsdsp/libartsc contain only C sources. For linking however
  'g++' is used. This means libstdc++ gets dragged in even though it is not needed. That is a
  big problem when artsdsp'ing applications like Teamspeak which come with a Qt that has
  libstdc++ statically linked in.
  With automake 'gcc' gets used for linking these libraries.
