Installation Instructions
-------------------------

Please refer to the mtv page at http://www.mpegtv.com/download.html
for more detailed installation instructions.

mtv requires the xforms library and may require the SDL library.
If those libraries are not installed on your system, you can
download them from our ftp site:
ftp://ftp.mpegtv.com/pub/mpeg/mpegtv/player/

If you want to use the full-screen mode, you need to run mtv as root
or mtvp must be set-iud root. To set-uid root, become root and type:

$ chown root mtvp; chmod +s mtvp

For details, see file /usr/doc/mtv/README-Fullscreen

**** SECURITY WARNING!!! ****
Setting the 's' bit of mtvp (set-uid root) creates security holes
and allows a user to perform privileged operations. Therefore if
you have a system that must be secure, you must remove the 's' flag
(set-iud) of mtvp with:

$ chmod -s mtvp

Please refer to the mtv page at http://www.mpegtv.com/download.html
for more infos, FAQ, on-line manual, links to MPEG bitstreams etc.

Xforms

The MpegTV Player 1.0 graphic front-end (mtv) was developed with
Xforms and MpegTV SDK 1.0.

Xforms is a library for building graphic user interfaces. See
http://bragg.phys.uwm.edu/xforms for details.
