CHANGES:
=========

Version 0.4 (Released 20 May 2004)

- Changed the output graph to reflect kbits/s rather than kbytes/s
- Cleaned up base to be 1024 and not 1000 ! (where applicable)
- Added interpretation commentary to each graph and version info
- Fixed up the documentation around multiple entries in the httpd.conf
file for server-status permissions ("allow from" needs to be on a new
line for each entry) -- also may require virtualhost setting for localhosts
- Added a custom user agent to all variations of the script so that the
useragent can be picked up in the log files by other logfile crunchers
like awstats. That way one can see what is "real" traffic and what is
  statistics gathering traffic.
- Renamed all cacti artefacts to start with "WebServer" rather than "Unix"
since that would be little more appropriate.
- Created a quick install guide in the main README.txt for the impatient
- Changed the thread matching to parsing rule as suggested by
Patrick Bulteel - THANKS ! I think this rocks...
- Changed the default interpreter to be "/usr/bin/perl -w" so that
more debug info can be provided
- Changed the script to unset any "http_proxy" environment variable
so that it doesn't go through a proxy to get to the web server.
  (high-speed version only)
- Updated various docs with default LWP vs high-speed version.
- This version now requires version 0.8.5a of cacti because there
are some important graphing and totaling fixes that would otherwise
have previously broken the "total" calculation.
- Created a tuning guide for the high-speed version (wget & lynx).

Version 0.3

- THIS RELEASE NEVER MADE IT INTO THE PUBLIC - starting with new release
to incorporate some fundamental issues - notably the default use of LWP
and stripping out of checking for apache versions etc..
- Broke up the README.txt into separate documents to enhance readability
- Moved to cacti 0.8.5 - tested with beta version of the same
  (Build = 23 Jan 2004)
- No longer distributing patch for import.php since this is fixed in the new
  version of cacti (0.8.5)
- Using Host Template import to make installation simpler
- Added "proper" GPL license agreement
- Created Troubleshooting guide for those struggling with installation
- Added total kbytes and other totals to the graphs
- Created a query to figure out which version of Apache we're dealing with
so that it can be passed as a command-line parameter.
- Added setting of custom fields for hostnames and major Apache version
so that these can be specified during graph creation.
- Added another graph that shows an alternative view of busy threads -
as a percentage of the total threads rather than as an absolute number
- Improved the script to be more efficient - used speed tests to verify
  improvements are creating better efficiency.
- Changed the default retriever to wget rather than lynx - seems to be more
  efficient

Version 0.2

- The colours were a little too light for comfortable viewing, so they
are a little darker now, especially the graph with the hits.
- A restart of apache caused some spikes that are caused by the counter
being reset to zero, which rrdtool incorrectly assumes to be traffic.
The values are now filtered out to keep the graphs clean.
(Please see the GOTCHAS notes below)
- We now calculate the bytes / request. Had to do some fancy footwork
to suppress the nasty effect invisible spikes have on the scaling.
- Renamed the datasources - they start with "apache_" so that they make
a little more sense and are easy to find in any long lists.
Had to use "apache_total_hits" in stead of _accesses due to DS name
  length limitations.
- Added more detail into a README file to make this easier to understand.
- Chopped off some of the lines from the status page to speed
up parsing in perl (big maybe)..
- Distributing only the graph templates to ensure no conflict of hashes
or other weird problems as with version 0.1. This time, I made sure
that the imports work as expected!!
- Added configurable item in the script to allow setting for earlier
version of apache that uses a different naming convention for the idle
  and busy threads.
- Had to patch import.php in order to get imports of "cdef_items" to work
correctly!! Problem and the fix have been posted for subsequent cacti
  releases (hopefully).

Version 0.1

- Initial Release (busy/idle threads, kbytes and hits)
