POSLIB - version 1.1
Claudio Terra
PUC-Rio, Brazil

This is release 1.1 of POSLIB, a POSIX Library for the Programming Language
Lua.

Installation requires the Lua 3.1 library previously compiled. Edit the
makefile if you use a compiler other than gcc, and to make variables LUALIB
and LUAINC point to the location of the Lua compiled libraries and include
files.

Copy one of the Makefiles.xxx to Makefile, then edit the copy.
Makefile.generic has been tested on Solaris 2, IRIX 5, AIX 3, and Linux 2.

Information about POSLIB can be found at the POSLIB Home Page
http://www.lmf-di.puc-rio.br/~terra/projects/poslib_index.html
There is a reference manual at the site.

Poslib is freely available for both academic and commercial purposes.

Notes
=====

For a C program using Lua and POSLIB, you must include all the usual Lua stuff,
plus "poslib.h". Then you have to open the library with a call to
poslib_open(). See "plua.c".

The file "pt.lua" is a small test program for poslib. It requires the file
"ptf.lua" in the same directory.

"pts.lua" is a test program for functions setuid and setgid, that require root
privileges to run. It must be edited before it runs.

Expect some warning messages when compiling for SunOS 4.x.

History

1.0.3 (971001) added some typecasts to avoid warnings; added typecasts

1.0.4 (971203) functions stat() and access() no longer abort execution on
errors; they return [nil, error string] instead.
