Standard Installation/Update with
SDBINST 
SDBINST is a program for the installation or update of the SAP DB software. It is used interactively for the standard installation/standard update described in this document.
You can also use it for background processing. The
background installation is described in the 
SAP DB Installation
Guide.
The SDBINST program is part of the SAP DB software version 7.4.
Use
the procedure described in this documentation for updates only if no database instances
refer to the installation path of the software that you want to
update.
If database instances refer to the installation path
of the software that you want to update, you must update the database
instances together with the software (Updating Database
Instances Including Software). If you do not do this, you risk making the
database instances incompatible with the database software, which means that
they cannot function.
