<independent_data_path> and <independent_program_path> path specifications are stored in the /usr/spool/sql/ini/SAP_DBTech.ini file when the system is installed for the first time. With every subsequent installation or upgrade process where you use SDBINST, these paths will be determined using the information contained in the SAP_DBTech.ini file.
You can run more than one SAP DB Server installation on the same host.
On Linux operating systems, you can use the Red Hat Package Manager (RPM) to install the SAP DB Server. If an RPM installation of the SAP DB Server software has been performed on Linux, you cannot additionally carry out an SDBINST installation or SDBINST upgrade on this host.
The files required to uninstall, verify, and upgrade the installation are created in the
<independent_data_path>/config/install directory when the software is installed. These files should never be modified.
