For general info read doc/whatsnew file.
To install bIRCd on your system, type "./Config" for automatic
configuration or "./Config -m" for manual configuration.
Now you can check out include/config.h file for tunning.
Also you can take a look for include/options.h file if necessary.
Next type "make" or "make all" if you are using CRYPT_OPER_PASSWORD
and then "make install". If you installing ircd as root, make sure
its full login, directly as root or use "su -".

If you are going to run ircd from crontab, use -c option, ex:
@reboot /home/user/ircd/ircd -c

Files used by ircd:
ircd.conf - configuration file
ircd.motd - MOTD file

For windows users only!!!
wircd.exe starts like daemon, so no visible window will be created.
To see if wircd started simply hit ctrl+alt+del and check for wircd
process in taskman. Due to strange behavior of winsock fd allocation
scheme, hardlimit of max clients is 508 and you shouldnt touch that.
In WIN9x you should not allow more than 40 client connections. Check
Y-Lines in conf.doc for details.
If you plan to have lot of users (connections), you should compile
wircd with NO_DNS defined in include/config.h file.
Also if you plan run wircd as service (from registry in 9x) you can
do: wircd.exe -d <path>
Do not use long file names.
