== Building KCall from sources ==

=== Prerequisites ===

Qt4.3.x:

  Qt should be prepackaged for all mayor linux distributions. Please see
  http://www.trolltech.com/products/qt for more information and installation
  instructions.

Decibel (>= 0.5.0):

  Decibel is a realtime communication framework. It is used extensively
  by KCall.

  To build it do the following after switching into the checkout directory:

    mkdir build && cd build
    cmake ..
    make && make install

KDE 4 (>= 4.0alpha2)

  KCall requires kdelibs, kdepimlibs, kdebase and kdepim to be build
  (with all their dependencies).

  See http://techbase.kde.org/Getting_Started/Build/Unstable_Version
  for instructions on how to build and setup a KDE4 environment to work in.

=== Building KCall ===

 Kdepim does not install the kpinterfaces library. Please copy it from
 KDEPIM_BUILD_DIR/lib/*kpinterfaces* into the directory kdepim installed its
 libraries. That is /usr/local/lib by default.

 If you do not want to do this you can disable building the kontact plugin
 by calling cmake with the option -DKCALL_ENABLE_KONTACTPLUGIN=OFF.

 To build it do the following after switching into the checkout directory:

    mkdir build && cd build
    cmake ..
    make && make install

== Current pitfalls ==

* The kontact plugin is not build at this time. To enable building it you need
  to install the kpinterfaces library found in $BUILD_DIR/kdepim/libs and
  uncomment the ADD_SUBDIRECTORIES line in kcall/CMakeLists.txt.

Please report any other pitfalls you encounter to our mailing list at
  decibel@kde.org.

== Configuration of Decibel ==

You need to make sure the KCall component is properly registered with Decibel.
To do so please check that the following output is generated when starting
the Decibel daemon:
Component:
    display name: "KCallgui"
    protocols   : ()
    types       : (1)
    target_types: ()
    service name: "de.basyskom.kcallgui"
    object path : "/StreamChannelHandler"

If you do not see this output, please make sure that the file
  de.basyskom.kcallgui.streamchannel.component
is installed into one of the directories scanned by the Decibel daemon.

The component entry is required to provide the KCall GUI with informations
on newly created communication channels. Without this entry no new
calls (incoming and outgoing!) will be registered in KCall.
