Non-GNU Systems
===============

Cygwin is not supported. On Cygwin, GTK+ in incompatible with most
POSIX functions, which are in `CYGWIN.DLL'.

Other problems:

- SIGPIPE is broken. If a process is killed, its children normally receive
  SIGPIPE and terminate automatically. On Cygwin there is no SIGPIPE, and child
  processes keep running until they are killed explicitely. (Assuming there is
  an active pipe between the parent and the child.)
- Cook is not ported. Install using `./configure && make && make install'.
- It is impossible for a Windows program to have a main function. To open a
  window, the "application instance" must be passed to CreateWindow(). The only
  way to read the instance number of the current process is via the arguments to
  WinMain(), which must replace main().
- Not all directories such as `/tmp' or `/usr' exist.
- $HOME is not always defined.
- There is no package management system.
- No signals. pause() cannot be interrupted.
