		 Backend Architecture Random Thoughts

Needs:

    * Ability to incrementally index things in real-time.
        - Any app should be able to trivially add things to the index.
        - Your apps should not need to have indexing engines linked
          into them.
        - The index should be updatable in real-time; i.e. if I visit
a web page, I want that to be immediately reflected in the
          dashboard matches.

    * If the system has important existing indexes, they should be
used and not duplicated inside the Dashboard index. (Obviously
I am thinking of Evolution's mail index here; I can't actually
      think of any other examples).

[ Oh my god. I cannot stand this guy sitting to my left. Please
just shut the fuck up. ]

    * Indexing should probably be general; i.e. one query mechanism
instead of multiple (not sure about this).

    * You should be able to do indexing from within the dashboard as
      well as from without.

    * Probably we need a general monitoring mechanism for checking if
files have changed, and then reindex them. We don't want to
have to rewrite that code again and again and again.

The Krehl process.
