Creating New Groups

Using the Management Console, you can create new groups, name them, assign them to specific servers, give them members, and more.

To create a new group:

  1. In the toolbar, click the Groups button.
  2. At the bottom of the contents pane, click Create Group(s).
  3. When the group creation wizard appears, click in the Group Name field and enter the new group name.
  4. From the drop-down menu, choose the Group Server Location.
  5. Click Next.
  6. When the next group creation wizard appears, you can add individual users as members. (If your user base is large, Scalix may take a short interval to load the user candidates into this tab.)
  7. Review the listed names and click the checkboxes by the users you want to add to this new group.
  8. TIP Remember to use the filter features included with this tab to sort out candidate users from the Scalix records.
  9. Click the empty checkboxes by the users (and existing groups) that you want to include in this new group.
  10. Click Next to add the selected users to the new group.
  11. When the final group creation wizard appears, you can designate this group as a “member” of another existing group.
  12. Review the listed groups and click the checkbox by the group’s name.
  13. Click Finish.
