Reviewing administrator settings

The Administrator Settings options affect your Scalix system without being specifically server-related.

To review and modify administrator settings:

  1. In the toolbar, click Settings.
  2. The contents pane displays the two settings options categories:
  3. Click Administration.
  4. Several options appear in the display pane, in a single General tab.

Customizing default user information settings

If your user base is restricted to a distinct geographic area, you can use these options to pre-load the Create New User options, saving yourself time in data entry. This would be helpful if most, if not all your users live in the same city, state/province and/or country. You can also preload the language entry if all your users share a common language.

IMPORTANT: These entries serve as a shortcut in general data entry, but you can easily override these auto-entries when creating a new user account in Scalix.
  1. In the toolbar, click the Settings button.
  2. In the contents list, click the Administration node.
  3. In the display pane, the General tab appears by default.
  4. In the area of the display pane labelled Default User Information Settings, review the settings.
  5. Click the now-active Save Changes button at the bottom of the display pane.

Changing list retrieval count

If you have over 100 users or groups, you will see “Incomplete List” displayed in the Contents pane when you first click the relevant toolbar buttons. You can raise the limit with this option, to force Scalix to list more of the available names at one time. Note that this will slow down the loading speed of Scalix records in SAC.

To increase the number of user or groups listed in the contents pane:

  1. In the toolbar, click the Settings button.
  2. In the contents list, click the Administration node.
  3. In the display pane, the General tab appears by default.
  4. In the area of the display pane labelled List Retrieval Settings, delete the “100” and type the replacement value (as a whole number).
  5. Click the now-active Save Changes button at the bottom of the display pane.

Adding local domains

If you want to create additional local domains for use in managing your email user base, you can easily add up to five.

To add local domains:

  1. In the toolbar, click the Settings button.
  2. In the contents list, click the Administration node.
  3. In the display pane, the General tab appears by default.
  4. In the area of the display pane labelled Local Domains, review the current listings.
  5. To add a new domain, click Add Domain.
  6. When a new, blank row appears, click in the Local Domain text field and type the domain name.
  7. Click the now-active Save Changes (at the bottom of the display pane).
  8. These domains are now available in a pull-down menu in the Create New User wizard.
