Mail Settings
You can use the Management Console Settings to change these mailbox configurations:
-
Set limits on overall capacity, and program a series of specific situational alerts that prompt users when their inbox (including sent mail) is almost full. This also applies to undeleted messages in the trash.
-
Control how long out-of-office messages are sent if the user sets a range of dates in the auto-reply configuration.
Setting maximum capacity limits for all user mailboxes
IMPORTANT: You can override this system-wide setting on an individual-mailbox level. See Setting Mailbox Capacity Limits for more information.
To set maximum capacity limits for all mailboxes across the system:
- In the toolbar, click the Settings button.
- In the contents list, select the server for which you want to set capacity limits.
- In the display pane, click the Mail tab.
-
In the area of the display pane labelled Mailbox Limits, make these settings:
- Click in the Maximum Mailbox Size text field and type a number representing megabytes of data.
- Click the checkboxes by the alert responses you want to activate.
- If you check Send warning... be sure to fill in the percentage number fields with values that will trigger the automatic warnings. This includes a short warning message that cites what happens when their Inbox is full of incoming and outgoing mail.
If you leave the fields empty, Scalix auto-fills default values.
- Click in the Send Warnings... text field and type the number of days between automatic alerts that will be sent to users with full mailboxes.
- Click the now-active Save Changes button at the bottom of the display pane.
Note: Remember that you can override these settings for individual system users.
Setting a time limit for out-of-office auto-replies
This option affects out-of-office auto-replies that were set in a range of dates (start and stop). If they picked a fixed return to office date, you can extend the auto-reply a preset number of days with this option.
Note the default is “0”—an extension of zero days beyond the client’s range of dates. And this goes into effect only if the client fails to deactivate their auto-reply upon returning to work.
To set a time limit for out-of-office auto replies:
- In the toolbar, click the Settings button.
- In the contents list, select the server for which you want to set time limits.
- In the display pane, click the Mail tab.
- In the area of the display pane labelled Out Of Office Settings, click in the empty text field and type a number that represents how many days beyond a “return to office” date the auto-reply will still be sent out.
- Click the now-active Save Changes button at the bottom of the display pane.
