The Scalix Management Console provides an efficient approach to many ongoing server management tasks. For example, if you are administering more than one Scalix server, you can use the console to modify—in one step—the settings of all Scalix servers on your network. Or, if you prefer, you can customize the settings of each server on an independent basis.
The settings cover a spectrum from domain names to password formulas, including an access point to configurations stored in the "general.cfg" file.
To review the current server settings options:
| Global | To make a global change if (1) you are managing more than one Scalix server and (2) you want to make the same changes to all servers, click the Mail Servers node to review and modify global settings in the display pane. |
| [Server name] | Under the Mail Servers node, you see one or more of the Scalix servers you administer. Click a [server name] entry to review and modify its settings in the display pane. |
| Administration | Click the Administration node to open a miscellany of general options in the display pane. |
| General | Change the default domain name for a Scalix server. Change user name-specific settings (for display name and authentication ID). Change the default format for email addresses. |
| Set a general limit for system-wide user mailbox capacity. Set an individual’s mailbox capacity, over-riding any system setting. Program the system response to a full mailbox. Determine the frequency of “out of office” mailings from user’s clients. |
|
| Password | Set the formatting and length of user-set passwords. Determine the lifetime of a password. Accept/block re-use of a current password. Set the number of failed login attempts before a user is rejected. |
| License | Use this tab to review the conditions of your current Scalix license and to add a new one, if needed. |
TIP: Other server-specific settings are available (and can be changed) in the Server Info tool options. For information, click "LINK".
