How Administration Group Members Use SAC

After you have granted admin group membership to one or more Scalix users, communicate the following:

Logging in to the Scalix Management Console

Admin group members must use one of the approved browsers on computers running either Windows or Linux. They also need the SAC server URL. All they need at this point is their Scalix authentication ID and password.

Reminder: The authentication ID is probably different from their e-mail user name but their password is the same as used by their email client.

What an admin group member sees in the Management Console

Each admin group has specific access to relevant features:

ScalixAdmin See and use the entire SAC toolbar and all related tabs, features and options.
GroupAdmin

See only the User and Group toolbar buttons and have access to the following tabs:

  • Users — Llimited to Member Of and Manager Of (groups)
  • Groups — Unlimited access to all tabs
UserAdmin

See only the User toolbar button, and have access to the following features:

  • General and Advanced tab options
UserAttributes

See only the User toolbar button, and have limited access to the following:

  • General tab — Contact and Email options, plus password change.

How admin group members perform tasks

The book, "Managing a Scalix System with Scalix Management Console" has been expressly organized so that you can distribute copies of the Acrobat file and simply point your admin group members to the table of contents. ScalixAdmin group members should use the entire guide, while other group members will find their tasks covered in the User and Group chapters.
