Prerequisites
-------------

In order to get lumpi compiled and working, you need the following:

- gcc (v3.3)
- openldap2 (v2.1.12)
- GNU make, groff, gzip
- Linux (v2.4.20)

Of course it may work with a different setup, but this is what was used for
development. If you (don't) get it to work on an alternative platform,
please contact me. Feedback is always welcome.

Building and installing
-----------------------

Compiling the program should simply be a matter of doing:

configure
make
make install

Instead of "make install", one may want to build RPM packages. A specfile
can be found in the data/dist directory after the first successful build.

Configuring
-----------

* lum
A sample configfile for lum can be found in the data directory. Basicly only
only the credentials have to be set and at least one meaningful job should
be configured.

* LDAP
The master LDAP server has to be configured for replication, with lum as one
of the slave servers.

Security notes
--------------

- The "lum" daemon should be protected by a firewall, that'll only let the
  master LDAP server connect to it.
- It is recommended to create a low priveleged user account for the "lum"
  daemon. It does not require any evelated priveleges itself (network server
  never should do).
- The configfile for the "lum" daemon should have at most perm 0x600, as it
  contains binding credentials.
