Overview of module

This session module updates UTMP and WTMP databases with service session information.
It is intended for use with FTP, POP3, IMAPD, SU and other services to log user activity
(service servers must open session using the pam_open_session() function and complete
it with pam_close_session()).

Session component

Recognized arguments: debug; nopid; service

Description:

This module can be used to log session information for services like FTP, POP3, IMAP,
SU, etc. You will need PAM aware servers to make use of this module.

The behavior of this module can be modified with one of the following flags:

debug - write more information to syslog(3) /not used by now/
nopid - do not append service server PID to service name
service - name of service to print (pam service name if not specified)

Examples/suggested usage:

This module can be used to log information about user sessions (ftp,
pop3, imap, su, etc.). You can use commands like 'w' and 'last' to
get listing of active/last sessions.

Here is a sample entry for your /etc/pam.d/XXX file:

#
# Let's see who's using XXX service now?
#
session optional pam_sessionlog.so service=foo

Note, some applications may perform this function themselves. In such cases,
this module is not necessary.
