Introduction:
This is phoenix, it is a library comprised of routines
written for various projects. There is no underlying
purpose or string that binds them together, it is
just a collection of nifty stuff.

Phoenix likes to be in /usr/local/phoenix. If you want to
write a configure script that will allow it to be moved easily
more power to you. (email it to bugs@mohawksoft.com). It does
not need to be "installed" just put it where you want it, make
the symlink to the OS dependent .mak file to config.mak, and
type make (or gmake on FreeBSD).

This library is being made available to use under the terms and
conditions of the GNU lesser public license, formally known as the
Library General Public License or LGPL.

No warranty is expressed or implied with the library. Quite the
contrary, it is known to have bugs, and is probably unsuitable
for any product. If you use it, it is your responsibility to
verify it is suitable for your needs. If you use it, you are on
your own. You can submit bug reports to bugs@mohawksoft.com, but
there should be no expectation of support.

contributions:
This library remains the property of Mark L. Woodward. No
contributions will be accepted without all rights being transferred.
If you make a contribution, it will remain available as part of
the public version of this library, but since this library is used
as the basis for "for profit" work done by Mohawk Software, it is not
possible for a waiver on the GPL status unless the library is completely
owned by Mohawk Software.

This policy may seem harsh and contrary to most open source projects,
but it is the only way in which phoenix can be used in Open Source
projects and continue to be a resource for Mohawk Software. Phoenix
was put together so the same old routines, didn't have to be rewritten
over and over again. Allowing 3rd party contributions to phoenix without
full transfer of ownership would prevent Phoenix from being what it
is intended to be.

Also, GPL projects based on this library are not bound by this. This
policy only applies to the phoenix library itself, not to msession or
other Mohawk Software public projects based on phoenix.
