Bond2 README file.

Bond uses a number of other projects. You need to make sure you have
bonddb installed first before attempting to install bond. You also need
the gtk-2.0 or higher to compile uigtk, along with postgresql-dev,
libxml2 (2.6 or later) and glib-2.0.

Most of the code resides in the src and uigtk directories. In both you
will find test programs. testxml in uigtk is good to see if your xml is
valid and will display a correct user interface. Likewise testsoldier
and bondfrontend in the src directory are for testing fully fledged
applications.

Each binary has a corresponding appname.conf file which is its
configuration file. These can be located in the current directory,
/etc/bond/ or in /usr/local/etc/bond. In this file the database to
connect to, bond xml file to load and other features are
specified. Bond2 has DTD validation so a program can be set to use
validation if requested in the corresponding .conf file.

The current bondfrontend.conf is designed to run src/members.xml and
have the sql script for members.sql in a local database. Its an example
of a membership database I wrote called victory. The commands:
	``createdb victory ; psql -f members.sql victory''
will add the database you need to run bondfrontend.

Compiling:
Use scons to compile and install bond and bonddb.
You need to download scons first before you can install, this is a Makefile
replacement.
scons
scons install
You need root privilages to run `scons install'.

Notes/Gotchas
* Bonddb doesn't support views in postgresql 7.4.
* Make sure you change the username and host in the .conf files to fit
  in with your own setup.
* If you are upgrading from a previous version of bond do a make clean
then make first. There could be changes in header files screwing
  things up.
* Sometimes libraries information needs to be updated, if you get this
  error:
``./bondfrontend: error while loading shared libraries:
libbondcommon.so.0: cannot open shared object file:
	No such file or directory''
  then run `ldconfig' as root.
* `./configure' doesn't seem to run on all setups out of the box. This
can be the case if you get this error:
``C++ preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check''
Make sure you have autoconf installed (pref 1.4) and type:
	``./rmbootstrap ; ./bootstrap''
  to recreate the configure file.
* If you install to /usr/local/ then pkg-config files may not be in
the right place on some distributions. If you get this error message
  during ./configure ;
``checking for bondcommon >= 0.7.3... Package bondcommon was not found in
  the pkg-config search path.''
Try moving the .pc config files from your local directory to /usr/lib. Ie.
      	 ``mv /usr/local/lib/pkgconfig/bon*.pc /usr/lib/pkgconfig/''
* The docs/reference directory has a make file to build html and sgml
documentation. You will need to run `make' twice sometimes.
* The library currently has high debugging on. You can custimise the
amount of output in the .conf file.
* Bonddb and bondcommon have memory debugging enabled in them by default,
which makes things run about 3 times slower than if it is not enabled.

If you do find any bugs problem, report them to bugzilla so I can get
them fixed.
