			Small fixes and enhancements

2001-05-01 jcaldwel@uspsa.net

Fixed some gcc warnings due to undeclared
casting doubles floats and shakes to integer.
Please verify and yell at me.

I also included the GPL license, a Changelog
an INSTALL file, a README.jpc file of wit
an obligatory and worthless NEWS file and
made some changes to the Makefile and
libmpeg3's makefile to make it easier to
change install prefix and libmpegs version
			suffix.
You don't need to do anything with libmpeg3
unless you need to turn off mmx or css.
x2divx's makefile will now configure and
			build it.

2001-05-06 jcaldwel@uspsa.net

Almost fixed the core dump on non existent
input file(s). You have to try real hard
now to get a core dump. All I did was
use access() and verify all the files
			exist.

2001-05-09 jcaldwel@uspsa.net

** No longer applicable as I've removed this
			and 1.5 renames mpeg3dump properly.
			3/31/2002 jcaldwel@uspsa.net***

*I changed libmpeg3's 'dump' command to
*mpeg3dump since it conflicts with most un*ces
*and linux dump. Modified libmpeg3s makefile
*so it builds correctly with this change.

*Also a make install will install it, the
*headers and the utilities with a prefix
*of /usr/local, this is not done by default.
*The install is why I needed to do the name
*change. Probably a bad thing but I wanted this
			*as a system library.

2001-5-16 jcaldwel@uspsa.net

Finally fixed part of the core dumping
problem by using getopt. There are a potload
of error checks, probably not enough.

It's not perfect and someone could clean it
up but it works well and should make adding
options easier in the future, even long
			options.

Made subtle changes to the cpp files with
voluminous comments. Added a version.h to
reduce typing. To ensure only avifile is
			grabbed it's now <avifile/version.h> as I
had a different badly behaved program that
			put a version.h in /usr/include this did
			strange things.

Long double PI is M_PI and is in <math.h>
so I replace the one PI with M_PI and
			commented out the PI constant.

2001-5-17 jcaldwel@uspsa.net

Now there are the functions print_usage,
			print_help and display_license.

Made a check to ensure there is an output
			file name.

			Added a check to mpeg2divx using mpeg_check_sig
to verify that the input file IS an mpeg, stops
core dumps. Really need this for avi2divx but
			do not know how....yet.

2001-5-20 jcaldwel@uspsa.net

Figured out how to catch an exception from
avifile to prevent a core dump on an invalid
file. It works only on opening a file, someone
who is a real C++ guru should look at it to
catch exceptions on file reads which will
			either segfault or core dump.

Fixed the segfault when an avifile has no
audio stream by aborting if one isn't detected

Refixed so that audio stream-less avifiles are
			now converted sans audio.

So now you can transform your soundless mpegs to
			upside down divx ;-) AVIs.

Cleaned up the code, I hope it's formatted
to standards. I used indent to do it and
accepted all defaults and it looks good
to me. Indent manual states it formats
to GNU standards and it is a bit more
readable, though I think some statements
			come out bizarre.

Added GNU license statements to all the
			source code files.

I merged my changes into version 0.8 calling
			it 0.8a

2001-7-01 uli@emulinks.de

Merged jpc's 0.8a and avifile 0.6 fix by Athos
			into release 0.9

With avifile 0.6 this crispness stuff finally works!
			WOHOO!

2001-7-02 uli@emulinks.de

			Brown-paper-bag-release 0.9a (this one _really_
builds with avifile 0.6, even if you don't have
			an old version flying around)

2001-11-3 uli@emulinks.de

Interim release until 0.6 final gets out.
memleak stuffed (don't remember who pointed it
			out; thanks anyway), added --startframe,
--skipvideo options (thanks to Yves), added
			preliminary OpenDivx support.

Uli also made changes to the license
statements, I'd just blindly cut and pasted so
his license is accurate and mine was wrong.

2002-2-1 jcaldwel@uspsa.net

I modified the Makefile to use libmpeg3-1.5
which has been packaged differently. You will
need to untar it in this directory and then
move the libmpeg3 directory to libmpeg3-1.5.
The configure script has been removed so ignore
the error make gives. See the INSTALL file.

Added string.h to avi2divx.cpp, for some reason
redsnot 7.1 howls when certain headers are not
			included.

x2divx's Makefile now uses avifile-config to
set the cflags and libs, no need to have to
manually change this and it now makes the
install prefix ONLY and install prefix.

date	Athos <athos@daedelus.cx>
Ported to avifile 0.6 at an unknown date.

2002-3-20 James Caldwel <jcaldwel@uspsa.net>
I noticed that -V did not work nor did
A,C. I added these to the switches line
in the getopt section. I do NOT have an mpeg
with more than 1 stream so this may or may not
work right. I cannot decode the vistream line
and seem to have lost my C/C++ book for now.

I've used avifile 0.6's nomeclature for
instead of fccD???? it's RIFFINFO_????. A simple
change that will make this incompatible with
avifile 0.5x. I did not add the ifdef's needed
			yet.

2002-5-12 uli@emulinks.de
Fixed Makefile so it won't go into an endless loop
			if there is no libmpeg3

			Fixed license in version.h
