BUSH (Business Shell) Installation

This file contains instructions for compiling BUSH from its sources,
porting BUSH and creating your own packages.

INSTALLING

1. Bush assumes the presence of the Bash shell. It may work with
other shells, but this has not been tested.

Bush also assumes the presense of the PostgreSQL database.

2. Install GCC Ada (GNAT) if you have not done so already.
Gnat for Linux is available from http://www.gnuada.org/alt.html.
(Note: There's a known bug in GNAT 3.13 that causes the
strings.match function to fail.) GCC 3.1 and newer includes Ada.
This was developed on my computer using GNAT 3.15.

If you're running GNAT 3.14, use the special scanner-calendar package
   included with the sources.

3. Run "make os" where "os" is your operating system. This creates
a new file called "bush_os.ads" for the appropriate operating system.

     Supported operating systems:

       make linux - (Linux) supported
       make freebsd - (FreeBSD) experimental
make hp - (HP-UX) no longer supported, may work with changes

4. "make" to build the "bush" executable. This will also run the APQ
configuration script which may ask you questions about your databases.
(Note: BUSH 0.9.3 only supports PostgreSQL.)

5. (Optional) "make test" to test bush. This make take several
   minutes.

6. (Optional) Copy the bush executable to a directory that other
users can access (eg. "/usr/local/bin/" ).

You can now run the bush executable.

Type "make help" for a list of all options.
